brazilian jiu jitsu is the best when it come to the ground game. nothing compares to it. but when it comes to street fighting, you are moslty standing up. getting knocked out is a serious possibility in a real fight. first rule of martial arts is to never exploit your abilities! lol. since this person is only a white belt, he still can not hope to use his limited knowledge in a real fight. you have to practice until it come naturally, someone throws a ball at you, you catch it. if someone rushes you, you throw them to the ground. if their arm is flinging wildly, you break it. practice practice practice. good luck, hope this helps.

it all depends, if they are just a white belt, then probably not. in a street fight, usually the winner is the guy who doesnt do stupid stuff and is in better shape, most people are worn out after about a minute of real fighting

I’d put Jujitsu, one on one against most streetfighters, but a “white belt” doesn’t know anything about the style yet.

    NEED MORE INPUT.

First off, the MOST important thing is that “so called” streetfighters usually will use a sucker punch or attack from surprise thus stunning the bjj guy then pummeling him so he doesn’t even have a chance to react and doesn’t know its coming.

Okay, lets say then that he was alert and wasn’t taken by surprise.

    I still don’t have a freaking clue.

BJJ is a good solid basis for self-defence, however can a white belt defend against a guy with a 200lb weight advantage- I would highly doubt it unless the 200lb guy was handicapped.

however, of relatively equal size, the bjj guy is going to have the advantage. a white belt knows jiu jitsu, just how much depends on how long he is studying, if all he can do is pull guard poorly and do upas then he still “knows” it, but won’t be able to implement it in a fight yet.

Also can ANY martial artist actually beat an untrained fighter if they are not using thier art because they get angry and sloppy, and are most likely intoxicated? Then they become a “natural” untrained fighter just like the other guy.

Also no martial art will fight to the level of the “real” thing in training where someone is really trying to put some hurt or permanent injury on you, however the more you spar realistically, the more likely you will be able to use your art in a real fight effectively and BJJ guys spar (roll) A LOT.
